Disruptive Innovation
For our prototype, we made a Google Sheet in order to make
the bookstore’s ordering process more efficient. A link to
that google sheet can be found on the data model page of
our website. Disruptive innovation takes place when an
innovation disrupts the existing market and makes way for
a new one. Our data model disrupted the current way of ordering
books by making the process more efficient and less time-consuming.
Our Google Sheet is set up for the customer to place orders
which are received by the bookstore. The bookstore can then
transform the google sheet answers into an Excel spreadsheet
which makes it easy to visualize by the bookstore employees
placing the order. The system we have created causes disruptive
innovation as it is able to completely replace the old, outdated system
the bookstore currently uses.
